Offering expert-guided tours meandering through creeks and around the Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge, kids learn how to kayak. Naturalist guides introduce your children to underwater and airborne dolphins, egrets and pelicans around the area. A two-hour dolphin nature tour is reasonably priced at costs $35.
Tours depart from a variety of locations throughout the island. There are two and three day programs for kids as well as a teen Kayak Camp. Be sure to inquire about special sunrise, sunset and moonlight trips. The minimum age requirement is four.

While I’ve found most welcome centers to be boring, the Hilton Head Chamber of Commerce is the exception. Offering beautiful back porch views, visitors can step into nature with view live oaks with adorned with Spanish moss in the distant marshlands. The adjacent museum offers a glimpse at Hilton Head Island history, wildlife and arts and crafts. The welcome center offers a video presentation of the island complemented by numerous maps to help you find your way around.
